Govt okays security risk allowance for six militancy-hit KP regions

Declaring 26 districts of six regions of KP ‘hard areas’, the federal government on Saturday approved security risk allowance for administrative officials and the police personnel of these militancy-hit parts, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

The Establishment Division informed the KP chief secretary about the federal government’s decision.

The Division said that the allowance, which would take effect from July 1, 2026, would be 250 per cent of the basic pay, and the officer receiving it would stop receiving it after his transfer.

Similarly, there would be no payment of the allowance if an officer has been suspended, has been made an OSD or is undergoing training.

Furthermore, the allowance would not be equivalent to pension or gratuity.

The areas whose officers and police personnel would receive the allowance are Peshawar, Khyber, Mardan, Charsadda, Mohmand, Nowshera, Kohat, Hangu, Karak, Kurram, Orakzai, Bannu, Lakki Marwat, North Waziristan, Dera Ismael Khan, Tank, South Waziristan, Upper and Lower Dir, Swat, Buner, Shangla, Bajaur and Chitral.

However, the officers of Swabi and Hazara division will not be entitled to receive the allowance.
