Lahore–Sialkot Motorway closed due to dense fog

The Lahore–Sialkot Motorway (M-11) has been temporarily closed for traffic due to dense fog, Motorway Police spokesperson Syed Imran Ahmed said on Saturday.

According to the Motorway Police, the decision to close the motorway was taken to protect the lives and property of the public, as reduced visibility during foggy conditions significantly increases the risk of accidents. The spokesperson warned that lane violations in fog can lead to dangerous and even fatal incidents.

Syed Imran Ahmed urged road users to strictly follow lane discipline and avoid unnecessary travel during foggy conditions. He advised motorists to prefer travelling during daytime hours, adding that the safest time for travel in fog is between 10:00 am and 6:00 pm.

The Motorway Police further instructed drivers to ensure the use of fog lights, avoid speeding, and maintain a safe distance from the vehicle ahead to prevent collisions. Motorists were also reminded to remain cautious and patient while driving in low-visibility conditions.

For further guidance, updates, or assistance, travellers have been advised to contact the Motorway Police helpline at 130. The Motorway Police said the motorway will be reopened once weather conditions improve and visibility returns to safe levels.
