NRE for foreign medical and dental graduates scheduled for romorrow

The National Registration Exam (NRE) for foreign medical and dental graduates will be held tomorrow (Sunday) in the major cities of Pakistan, 24NewsHD TV reported on Saturday.

 The exam will be conducted under the administration of the National University of Medical Sciences (NUMS), Rawalpindi, in accordance with Pakistan Medical and Dental Council (PMDC) regulations.

The exam will take place in Islamabad/Rawalpindi, Lahore, Karachi, and Peshawar.

A total of 7,076 foreign medical and dental graduates have registered, including 6,989 medical graduates and 87 dental graduates.

Distribution of candidates includes 2,358 medical and 43 dental candidates from Islamabad/Rawalpindi, 3,562 medical and 30 dental candidates from Lahore, 499 medical and 4 dental candidates from Karachi, and 570 medical and 10 dental candidates from Peshawar.

According to PMDC, graduates holding foreign medical or dental degrees cannot obtain temporary or permanent registration and are not allowed to practice independently in Pakistan without passing the NRE.

Candidates who successfully complete both stages of the exam will be issued registration certificates in line with legal requirements.

The council confirmed that all arrangements for the exam have been completed, and candidates are instructed to report to their designated exam centers by 10 am, with the exam scheduled to begin at 12 pm.

PMDC also issued a strict warning that violating standard operating procedures (SOPs) at exam centers will result in candidates being denied entry.

In addition, PMDC advised parents sending their children abroad for medical or dental education to choose only recognized and accredited institutions.

The council warned that admission to low-quality or unaccredited foreign colleges poses serious risks to students’ professional futures, wastes time and resources, and can affect the credibility of the medical profession.
