Approval of Sheikh Rashid’s nomination papers challenged

The approval of the nomination papers of Awami Muslim League (AML) head Sheikh Rashid Ahmed was Monday challenged, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

The approval of the nomination papers was challenged by Azmat Mubarak Advocate, a candidate of NA-62 constituency.

“There are serious allegations against Sheikh Rashid Ahmed. He has not fully disclosed his assets,” Mubarak Advocate said in his plea.

“Criminal cases have been registered against Sheikh Rashid. He has not even provided documents of Lal Haveli so far,” he added.

“The accused involved in criminal cases cannot contest elections. As to Sheikh Rashid, investigations were not carried out by the institutions on the instructions of the returning officer (RO),” he stated.

“Sheikh Rashid had resigned himself. Then on what basis is he contesting the election?” he questioned.

Mubarak Advocate vowed to approach the Election Tribunal and the high court if the application was rejected.
