SC orders probe against those who made Arshad Sharif’s case report public

The Supreme Court Monday ordered investigations against those who made the fact-finding report of the Arshad Sharif murder case public, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

“Who made the fact-finding report of the Arshad Sharif murder case public?” Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Umar Ata Bandial questioned.

“Find out who was behind making the fact-finding report public,” he ordered and added that the fact-finding report had been made public without verification.

“Someone has deliberately made the fact-finding report public. There have been mistakes in the investigation in Pakistan,” the CJP remarked.

“The court has read every single word of the report,” Justice Mazahar Ali Akbar Naqvi said.

“Kenya did not cooperate in investigation into the Arshad Sharif murder case,” the additional attorney general told the court.

“If relations with a country are not very good, how cooperation of that country is acquired for investigation?” Justice Ijazul Ahsan questioned.

“The court wants to know what the special Joint Investigation Team (JIT) has found so far. What action plan will the special JIT take in the future? Let it be said,” the CJP stated.

“We cannot accuse anyone of Arshad Sharif murder prematurely. Since the return of the fact-finding report, something has happened so far that Kenya is no longer cooperating,” he remarked.

“The Supreme Court is not heading the investigation into the Arshad Sharif murder case,” he added.

“The Foreign Office was assured of cooperation by the Kenyan foreign minister,” Justice Muhammad Ali Mazhar.

“Why was the special JIT not allowed to go to the crime scene in Kenya despite the assurance?” he questioned.

“The same story is being told again and again,” Justice Mazahar Ali Akbar Naqvi remarked.

“It is a complicated matter. Diplomatic relations with Kenya are to be maintained,” the additional attorney general replied.

“Arshad Sharif’s murder has three angles. Who forced him to flee Pakistan? Was there an investigation as to who got the cases registered against Arshad Sharif across the country? Has it been found that what was shown to Arshad Sharif that he went out of the country?” Justice Ijazul Ahsan questioned.

“When all the links are connected, it will be known by itself who wanted to get rid of Arshad Sharif,” he remarked.

“Where is Arshad Sharif’s mobile and other belongings?” he questioned.

“Arshad Sharif’s mobile and iPad are with the Kenya’s IT Department. Other belongings of Arshad Sharif have been received,” JIT head Awais Ahmed told the court.

“Where are the JIT members?” Justice Mazahar Ali Akbar Naqvi questioned.

“Three members are present in the court,” the JIT head told the judge.

“Why did the rest of the members not come? Is it not the work of the JIT to appear before the court?” Justice Mazahar Ali Akbar Naqvi said.
