The Punjab Finance Department  has raised objections to the inclusion of MPAs in the committees formed for the auction of government lands in the province, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Friday.

The parliamentary oversight does not mean involvement in administrative matters, it was maintained.

The participation of assembly members in the auction committee is against the principle of separation of powers.

The powers of the legislature and the executive are clearly separated in the Constitution. The inclusion of MPAs in auction committees makes them parties to administrative decisions.

Privileges Committee recommends inclusion of MPAs in auction committees. The caretaker cabinet removed assembly members from the auction committees in 2023.

The House Committee on Legislation and Privatization recommends the addition of two MPAs. The Board of Revenue has presented this matter to the Punjab government.
