Electric Bus Service launched in Karachi

The Sindh government has announced that Pakistan’s first electric bus service will be launched today, while Sindh Information Minister Sharjeel Memon will inaugurate this initiative, reported 24NewHD TV channel.
The electric bus will be operated from Malir Cantt to Defence View via Clock Tower and Khayaban-e-Ittehad. The bus fare is set at Rs50.
It has the capacity to cover the distance of 240 km on a single charge of 20 minutes. It will only run on charging. For that purpose, a solar energy plant has been installed for charging.

It is important to note that the electric bus was piloted in November.
As many as 30 people can travel seated while 40 people can stand. Moreover, there is a separate portion for disabled persons.
Security cameras are also installed inside the bus and drivers has received special training to drive this bus.
