PM Shehbaz, Nawaz Sharif land in Qatar to condole former Emir's death
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, accompanied by former Prime Minister and PML-N President Nawaz Sharif, arrived in Doha on a one-day visit to the State of Qatar on Monday, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
Upon arrival at Doha Airport, the Prime Minister, Nawaz Sharif and the Pakistani delegation were received by Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of State for Defence of Qatar, Sheikh Saud bin Abdulrahman bin Hassan bin Ali Al Thani.
The Prime Minister proceeded to Lusail Palace, where he met Amir of the State of Qatar, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani.
During the meeting, the Prime Minister conveyed his heartfelt condolences to the Amir of Qatar, the Qatari Royal Family and the people of Qatar on the demise of the former Amir of Qatar, the late Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani.
Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar and Minister for Information and Broadcasting Attaullah Tarar also accompanied the Prime Minister.

Earlier, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif along with PML-N President Nawaz Sharif and other ministers departed from Islamabad Monday morning on a one-day visit to Qatar.
This visit of the Prime Minister to Qatar reflects the decades-long enduring fraternal relations between the Qatari royal family, the Qatari people, and the Pakistani government and people.
On Sunday, Pakistan has expressed deep grief and sorrow over the passing of former Qatari Emir Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani, who died at the age of 74.
Moreover, the federal government has decided to observe a day of mourning in Pakistan on Monday (today) over the death of former Emir of Qatar.
According to a notification, Government of Pakistan declared July 13 as a national day of mourning. The national flag will fly at half-mast across the country on the national day of mourning.
Prime Minister had announced the day of mourning over the passing of the former Emir of Qatar as Islamabad expressed solidarity with the government, royal family, and people of Qatar.
Earlier, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, President Asif Ali Zardari, and Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar conveyed their condolences to Qatar’s Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, the Al Thani family, the Qatari government, and the people of Qatar.
PM Shehbaz Sharif described Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani as a great leader, saying he transformed Qatar into a modern and prosperous nation. He said the late Emir’s services for public welfare, regional peace, and international cooperation would always be remembered.
The prime minister said Pakistan stands in complete solidarity with Qatar during this hour of grief, adding that Sheikh Hamad’s affection and sincerity towards Pakistan would always remain a matter of pride. He also prayed for the forgiveness and higher ranks of the departed soul.
President Asif Ali Zardari said the former Emir rendered valuable services for Qatar’s development, prosperity, and regional peace, and prayed for the elevation of his soul.
DPM Ishaq Dar said Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani played an important role in Qatar’s progress and strengthening Pakistan-Qatar relations. He added that his leadership and contributions towards regional peace would always be remembered.
Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani served as Qatar’s Emir from 1995 to 2013. During his tenure, Qatar emerged as one of the world’s wealthiest countries, AFP reported.
