Share prices plummet at Pakistan Stock Exchange
Share prices at the Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX) fell like nine pins on Friday amid Israeli attacks on Iran and the concerns expressed by the businessmen over 2025-26 federal budget, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
During intraday trading, the PSX’s benchmark index plunged by 1,677.20 points or -1.37% to reach 122,415.92 points.
Former director of Pakistan Stock Exchange Amin Yousaf said that if tensions between Iran and Israel rise further then it will have negative impact on the PSX and that will automatically harm confidence of the investors.
According to experts, political and economic uncertainty and concerns related to the upcoming fiscal year's budget are affecting the market so investors prefer selling.
Early morning reports of an Israeli attack on Iran initially sent the equity market into a sharp decline, though some recovery has since been observed.
This event has significantly escalated geopolitical uncertainty, a sentiment clearly reflected in the immediate 8% surge in oil prices. Given evolving information, the broader market reaction in the coming days would be dominated by the extension and repercussion of the same, the experts concluded.
