NA speaker advised to call assembly session on March 17 or 18

National Assembly Speaker Asad Qaiser has been advised to call the session to take up the no-confidence motion against Prime Minister Imran Khan on March 17 or 18, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Sunday, quoting its sources.

The National Assembly secretariat after completing its procedure forwarded the file to Speaker Asad Qaiser proposing to call a session on any day before March 22 most suitable is March 17 or 18.

The no-trust move against the prime minister was filed by the joint opposition and the speaker is bound to called National Assembly session within 14 days.

According to the 24News TV channel, the National Assembly (NA) secretariat declared the opposition’s no-confidence motion according to the rules and suggested NA Speaker Asad Qaiser to convene the assembly session on March 17 or 18.

The NA secretariat ascertained the genuineness of all the signatures on the requisition and the no-confidence motion submitted by the opposition and did not find any of them dubious or against the rules.

The NA legislation wing sent the file to the speaker after ascertaining the authenticity of the signatures in two phases and fulfilling all other legal requirements.

The NA speaker will give final approval for convening the assembly session after consultations.

PM calls senior leaders to Bani Gala

Prime Minister Imran Khan has invited senior leadership of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) to his residence in Bani Gala for consulting with them the right time to convene the National Assembly session in the wake of the no-confidence motion by the opposition parties.

Senior PTI leaders including Pervez Khattak, Ali Zaidi, Fawad Chaudhry, and Shafqat Mehmood will attend the meeting.

They will inform the prime minister about their recent meeting with the National Assembly speaker.

The prime minister will give his final approval for the National Assembly session.
