Pakistan starts Omicron tests of Gulf passengers at airports

Pakistan has decided to start the rapid antigen test (RTA) of air passengers coming from the Gulf and Saudi Arabia at airports from Friday night after identifying the first case of a new type of Omicron in travellers.
According to the 24News HD TV channel, the limited random screening through the RAT will be effective from 12:01 pm tonight at Islamabad, Lahore and Karachi airports.
The channel report said that initially, there will be administered the RAT for 10 to 15 passengers on small aircraft carrying 150 passengers.
While the aeroplanes carrying 250 or more passengers will have the RAT for 15 to 20 passengers. These measures will remain in effect until further notice by the CDC.
The Civil Aviation and the Centre for Disease Control are implementing these measures following the guidelines given by the Ministry of Health.
