LHC rejects Imran Khan’s plea seeking dismissal of Shehbaz defamation suit
The Lahore High Court (LHC) on Tuesday threw out the petition filed by former prime minister and PTI founder Imran Khan in which he had challenged the Rs10 billion defamation suit filed by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif against him in a trial court, saying it was inadmissible for the hearing, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
Justice Chaudhry Muhammad Iqbal pronounced the reserved decision.
Sources told the 24News TV channel that the judge would soon release the written order in the case.
In 2017, PM Shehbaz, who was the Punjab chief minister at that time, had filed a Rs10 billion defamation suit against the then PTI chairman Imran Khan for alleging that he was offered a Rs10 billion bribe by a close associate of the chief minister to drop the Panama Papers case against the then prime minister Nawaz Sharif.
