IUB, federal govt bear expenses of expelled Balochistan, ex-FATA students

The Islamia University of Bahawalpur Directorate of Academics notified relief for the fee and dues for students belonging to Balochistan and ex-FATA admitted at the IUB on reserved quota seats, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
According to the notification issued on Thursday, the relief was made as per the reference to the decisions made in the meeting held at Punjab Governor House on Oct 12, chaired by the Punjab Governor/Chancellor Islamia University Bahawalpur.
The meeting was attended by Federal Education for Professional Training, the Vice Chancellor, Islamia University, Bahawalpur, the Secretary of Federal Education and Professional Training, the Higher Education Commission (HEC) Executive Director, and members of political leadership from Balochistan.
The IUB will not charge any dues from the students of Balochistan, and Ex-FATA enrolled at IUB as the Pakistan government will bear 50 percent of the expenses on account of the education of these students at IUB while the remaining 50 percent will be borne by varsity from its own sources.
The decision was made in order to encourage and facilitate the youth from Balochistan ex-FATA to acquire higher education and promote national integration and nation-building per the policy.
The notification copies were sent to Pro-Vice Chancellor, Deans of the Faculties, Chairpersons/Heads/Principals/Directors of the departments concerned, Additional Registrar (Admin), Director of Students Affairs, Chairman, Hall Council (Male), Chairperson, Hall Council (Female) and Executive Secretary to Vice Chancellor.
