Rashid Khan sets unwanted record with most expensive spell in The Hundred

Afghanistan all-rounder Rashid Khan endured a night to forget in England’s The Hundred on Tuesday, producing the most expensive bowling figures in the tournament’s history without taking a wicket, 24NewsHD TV reported.  

Playing for Oval Invincibles against Birmingham Phoenix at Edgbaston, Rashid conceded 59 runs from his allotted 20 balls (equivalent to four T20 overs) and failed to claim a single dismissal.

The outing marked not only his poorest performance in The Hundred but also the costliest spell of his entire T20 career.

The decisive damage came from Birmingham’s explosive middle-order batter Liam Livingstone, who hammered an unbeaten 69 off just 27 deliveries.

In a blistering final stretch — from the 76th to the 80th ball of the Phoenix innings — Livingstone launched a savage attack on Rashid, smashing three consecutive sixes and two boundaries.

Livingstone’s fireworks propelled Birmingham Phoenix to a successful chase, securing a four-wicket victory with two balls to spare.

The match also saw him achieve a unique milestone: he became the first batter to score over 200 T20 runs against Rashid Khan in his career, surpassing all others by a significant margin, as no other opponent has even reached 150.

With figures of 0/59, Rashid now holds the record for most runs conceded in a single match in The Hundred — an unwanted entry into the history books for one of the format’s most celebrated bowlers.
