Another doctor Monday succumbed to deadly novel coronavirus in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
Doctor Almas Begum Afridi was admitted at a private hospital after testing positive for the COVID-19, where she breathed her last.
With Dr Almas’ death, 31 doctors have been martyred so far in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa in their fight against the deadly disease.
Dr Almas had resigned from Khyber Teaching Hospital Peshawar as a protest against IBP and had joined the Kabir Medical College as Head of the Gynecology Department in 2005. Currently, she was working at Naseer Teaching Hospital.
According to Provincial Doctors Association, she was under treatment for many days at North West Hospital where she breathed her last.
Last week, the Provincial Doctors Association (PDA) while highlighting infections in the provincial healthcare sector had stated that 398 nurses contracted novel coronavirus while working on the front line. Moreover, 1132 other provincial health workers were infected by the disease, the PDA said in a statement.
During the pandemic 43 health workers, including four nurses, had been martyred by novel coronavirus infection. “Eight paramedics and six other healthcare workers also martyred by the COVID-19 in KP,” the association said.
