Lahore, with AQI 191, ranked as third most polluted city in world
Several areas of country remain engulfed by fog
Pollution continues to plague several cities of the country, including Lahore, which emerged as the third most polluted city in the world on Sunday, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
The AQI in the city of gardens was recorded at 191.
The situation was worse in Bahawalpur where the AQI was recorded at 544, while it stood at 436 in Faisalabad.
Peshawar was no less polluted as the AQI in the city was recorded at 349.
Karachi, however, was nowhere on the list of the world’s 10 most polluted cities.
On the other hand, different parts of the country remained engulfed in fog, resulting in poor visibility, and leading to the closure of roads.
On Saturday, 24News TV channel reported that the northern parts of the country are currently in the grip of bitterly cold weather, while on the other hand, the Met Office had forecast two spells of rain and snowfall for Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK), upper KP and Gilgit-Baltistan.
Drizzle is expected in Rawalpindi, Islamabad and Peshawar, while rain and snowfall have been predicted for Mansehra, Abbottabad, Galyat and Murree from today until December 15.
The weather will remain party cloudy in Bajaur, Mohmand, Khyber, Orakzai, Kurram and Waziristan on December 14 and December 15.
On December 19, another rain-producing system will enter the country.
Under the impact of the system, there will be drizzle in Rawalpindi and Islamabad, while rain and snow in the northern areas of the country.
