Saudi Arabia, UAE receive first rain of winter season
The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA) and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) received the first rain of the winter season, which turned the atmosphere pleasant, 24NewsHD TV channel reported on Sunday.
Cloudy skies arise in the Saudi Arabian capital Riyadh and its surrounding areas. The Met Office predicted that heavy rains would continue for the next few days.
Dubai also received heavy rain which also dropped the temperature to 20 degree centigrade.
Met Office predicted that Dubai will continue to receive light rain today. Dubai police advised the people not to come out of their homes unnecessarily.
Starting Friday, cloud cover will begin to spread across the country, setting the stage for a multi-day weather system that will peak between December 16 and 19.
They further urged the travellers to use fog lights, windscreen wipers, and to prefer slow driving during the rain. Dubai police also advised people not to violate traffic rules.
Apart from rain and thunder, residents will notice a clear drop in temperatures, indicating the UAE’s shift towards winter.
“December 14 and 15 will see a noticeable decline in temperatures. Again, on the 16th and 17th, due to cloud cover, temperatures will remain lower.”
