Seven-day polio drive begins across Pakistan to safeguard children tomorrow

Pakistan is set to launch the final national polio campaign of 2025 tomorrow, aiming to vaccinate more than 45 million children across the country, the National Emergency Operations Centre (EOC) announced.

According to the 24NewsHD TV channel, the week-long campaign will run from December 15 to December 21 and covers children under the age of five.

In Punjab, over 23 million children are expected to receive polio drops, while Sindh will cover more than 10.6 million children. Khyber Pakhtunkhwa plans to vaccinate over 7.2 million children, and in Balochistan, more than 2.6 million children will be reached.

Islamabad, Gilgit-Baltistan, and Azad Jammu and Kashmir will cover approximately 460,000, 228,000, and 760,000 children, respectively.

The campaign will see the deployment of more than 400,000 male and female polio workers, who will be responsible for administering the vaccine and monitoring coverage in their respective areas.

The National EOC stressed that protecting children from polio is a shared national responsibility and urged parents to fully cooperate with polio workers to ensure the success of the campaign.

Authorities also reminded parents that children under five must receive two polio drops to achieve full protection against the disease.

The initiative underscores Pakistan’s ongoing efforts to eradicate polio and safeguard the health of future generations.
