Govt about to drop ‘petrol bomb’ on nation

The government is about to drop a petrol bomb on the people as the Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) on Monday forwarded the summary to the Petroleum Division for a hike in petroleum products’ (POL) prices, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
According to sources, price of petrol may go up by Rs8.50 per liter, and that of diesel by Rs5.50 per liter.
Sources disclosed that the OGRA had proposed an increase on the basis of current levy, adding that if the levy was increased, the prices will also increase.
However, they added that the government planned to further reduce the levy, rather than increasing it.
The new prices will take effect day after tomorrow, (Wednesday, February 16).
