Anti-smuggling and immigration amendment bills sail through Senate
The Senate has approved three crucial amendment bills, including the Prevention of Smuggling of Migrants (Amendment) Bill 2025, the Prevention of Trafficking in Persons (Amendment) Bill 2025, and the Immigration (Amendment) Bill 2025, during its Friday session.
According to the 24NewsHD TV channel, Federal Law Minister Azam Nazeer Tarar presented all three bills in the upper house, which were passed with majority support.
The amendments aim to strengthen measures against human trafficking, illegal migration, and smuggling networks.
Additionally, the law minister also introduced the Income Tax (Amendment) Bill 2025 in the Senate. The presiding officer referred the bill to the Senate Standing Committee on Finance for recommendations.
