A bridge in Jhelum that was built a month ago to connect dozens of villages, has now been swept away during the first spell of torrential rain in Jhelum on Wednesday, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

A car was also sunk in the floodwaters but three of the car passengers were rescued.

The TV channel reported that weather in Punjab has turned pleasant due to the first spell of monsoon rains but it also multiplied the problems for the common man.

The water ponding reported in low-lying areas after torrential rains in Sargodha, Faisalabad, Layyah, Bhavana, Chiniot and other cities.

Faisalabad's WASA system could not bear even 35mm of rain as the rainwaters entered the Sessions Court forcing lawyers and litigants to reach court wading through the water.

WASA teams have disappeared as life became paralyzed in Faisalabad.

In Layyah, a tehsil of Thal, even the Medical Superintendent’s room was filled with rainwater and roads were inundated with rainwater as the administration did not drain the water from the city’s main areas including Chiniot Road, Adda Jamia Abad and inner city which presents a picture of a pond.

Earlier, CM Advisor on Information Firdous Ashiq Awan claimed that Lahorites enjoyed the rain despite 50mm rain because the administration worked so well.
