Bomb disposal official killed in IED blast in Peshawar

A Bomb Disposal Squad official was killed Tuesday when a suspected improvised explosive device detonated during a clearance operation in the Hassan Khel police jurisdiction, police said.

The official, identified as Khaista Rehman, was attempting to defuse the suspected device when a powerful explosion occurred.

He died at the scene, police said.

Security personnel cordoned off the area after the blast and began collecting evidence.

Police said investigators were examining the nature of the explosive device and trying to identify those responsible for planting it.
