Fake driving licence foils passenger’s Saudi travel bid at Karachi Airport

The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) Immigration wing at Jinnah International Airport, Karachi, has offloaded a passenger attempting to travel to Saudi Arabia after authorities detected a suspected fake driving licence in his possession during immigration clearance, 24NewsHD TV reported on Sunday. 

According to an FIA spokesperson, the passenger was travelling to Saudi Arabia on a work visa and had obtained a protector clearance to work as a driver.

During routine scrutiny of his travel documents, immigration officials found discrepancies in the driving licence he presented.

The spokesperson said the national identity card number printed on the licence did not match the passenger’s actual CNIC number.

Furthermore, when officials scanned the licence’s QR code, it displayed the details of an unknown individual, strengthening suspicions that the document was forged.

During initial questioning, the passenger reportedly admitted that he had never applied for or obtained a driving licence through any official licensing authority.

He told investigators that the licence had been arranged for payment by an agent identified as Syed Ameer Shah, a resident of Rawalpindi.

The passenger further disclosed that his Saudi work visa had been secured through another agent, identified as Umair, while his protector clearance was obtained through M/S Kaleemullah International Overseas Employment Promoters.

In view of the suspected use of forged documents and the suspicious circumstances surrounding the case, FIA officials offloaded the passenger and prevented him from boarding the flight.

The case has been handed over to the FIA Anti-Human Trafficking Circle, Karachi, for further investigation and legal action.
