‘Sorry Asim’: Rajab Butt hits back at critics in viral rant
Pakistani YouTuber Rajab Butt has finally responded after singer Asim Azhar came under criticism for publicly appreciating and resharing one of his reels on social media.
Taking to Instagram Stories, Rajab addressed the controversy in his signature unfiltered style, defending Asim while also taking aim at the critics who targeted the singer following their social media interaction.
The online debate began after Rajab shared a reel featuring Asim Azhar’s recently released track Tu Hai Wohi. Impressed by the video, Asim praised the content creator in the comments and later reshared the reel on his own Instagram Story.
Reacting to the backlash, Rajab sarcastically thanked his critics and wrote, “First of all I would like to thank all my enemies and haters. Kamal kaam kar rahay ho guys, baghair salary.”
“Asim is one of my favourite singers in Pakistan. Main ne us ke liye reel banayi, haters ne usay troll kiya. Asim ne jo story lagayi, I am totally agreed with him,” he wrote.

Rajab also apologized to the singer for unintentionally dragging him into the controversy. In a candid message, he said he felt sorry that because of him, the same critics who had targeted him for years had now started targeting Asim as well.
Continuing his response, Rajab stressed that the reel was never a paid promotion and was made solely because he enjoys Asim’s music. He wrote that he created the video “without a single penny” and added that Asim remains one of his favourite singers despite the criticism surrounding the interaction.

The social media personality then shifted his focus back to his critics, pointing to his growing success online. Celebrating the milestone of reaching nine million followers, Rajab claimed that despite years of criticism and negativity, his career continues to grow.
“Am still ruling and earning,” he wrote, while thanking his supporters and ending the message with a salute to what he called “Rajab’s Family.”

Rajab’s response came shortly after Asim Azhar addressed the same controversy through his own Instagram Story. The singer clarified that appreciating someone’s support does not automatically mean sharing their personal views or beliefs.
“But just for the record, thanking someone and showing love in return doesn’t mean my views and values are the same as anybody,” Asim wrote.

He further acknowledged the concerns raised by some fans, adding that the interaction had simply been a gesture of appreciation and “wasn’t that deep.”
The exchange has since become a major talking point across social media, with supporters of both personalities weighing in on the debate.
