JUI-F lays out conditions for alliance with PTI

The Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam Fazal group (JUI-F) has laid out seven strict conditions for forming an alliance with Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), making it clear that every final decision will be taken by the joint opposition, not Imran Khan.

According to the 24NewsHD TV channel, the JUI-F leadership has also insisted on a written agreement instead of verbal commitments from the PTI.

Sources reveal that a green signal for JUI-F’s inclusion in the opposition alliance has come from the PTI's detained leadership in Adiala Jail.

The sources said that the PTI has completed its consultation with its incarcerated leader, Imran Khan, and conveyed JUI-F’s demands to him.

As per the channel report, the sources said the JUI-F has also asked PTI to respond in writing regarding its commitments.

JUI-F has sought answers to key questions regarding the alliance’s structure, the role of the opposition bloc, and whether a new opposition alliance will be formed or the movement will operate under the banner of Tehreek Tahafuz Ayeen-i-Pakistan (TTAP).

Expressing serious reservations about PTI’s past dealings, JUI-F stated that PTI had been consulted during the 26th Constitutional Amendment but later blamed JUI-F, which it considers an unfortunate act.

JUI-F has also demanded that negotiations with the government and establishment should be conducted collectively by the opposition and not at the party level.

The party further emphasised that PTI may consult Imran Khan internally, but ultimate decisions will be made by the opposition alliance.

JUI's seven conditions

The seven key conditions set by JUI-F are:

All decisions must be documented in writing.
Negotiations with the government or establishment will be handled collectively by the opposition, not individual parties.
Clarity is needed on whether a new opposition alliance will be formed or if the movement will work under TTAP.
The structure of the new alliance must be clearly defined.
The composition of the new alliance and its member parties must be finalised.
The opposition alliance must have independent decision-making authority.
The final decision will be made by the opposition alliance, not Imran Khan.
Yesterday, the channel reported that the Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) has invited the Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) to join it in its anti-government movement, which it plans to launch after Eidul Fitr.

Sources have told the 24News TV channel that the invitation was extended at parleys between the leaders of two parties. They have disclosed that the JUI-F has accepted the PTI’s invitation provided the latter also supports it on the Madaris Registration Bill.

If the PTI supports the JUI-F on the bill, the latter is ready to throw its weight behind the former, sources said while quoting the JUI-F leaders. However, they added, the PTI leaders have sought time from the JUI-F, saying they want to consult the former prime minister and the party founder, Imran Khan, who is currently incarcerated at Adiala Jail, Rawalpindi.

Salman Akram Raja, they have informed, will hold consultations with Imran on the matter later today.

The PTI plans to give the finishing touches to its anti-government drive along with Tehreek Tahafuz Ayeen-i-Pakistan (TTAP) before the end of the holy month of Ramadan.

Leaders from both parties held a crucial meeting to discuss a potential alliance, the spokesperson for the TTAP said on Monday.

PTI Secretary General Salman Akram Raja, former NA speaker Asad Qaiser, Junaid Akbar Atif Khan, and MNA Amir Dogar attended the meeting.

Representing JUI-F, the party's central secretary general, Maulana Abdul Ghafoor Haideri, and senior leader Senator Kamran Murtaza participated in the discussions.
