South Korea, Oman envoys discuss strengthening diplomatic, economic ties in Karachi

South Korea’s newly appointed Consul General in Karachi, Joohoon Kim, visited the Consulate General of the Sultanate of Oman, where he met Dean of the Diplomatic Corps and Consul General of Oman, Engineer Sami Abdullah Al Khanjari, to discuss bilateral relations and avenues for enhanced cooperation.

During the meeting, the two diplomats held detailed discussions on relations among Pakistan, the Sultanate of Oman and South Korea, with particular emphasis on economic cooperation, investment opportunities, and the promotion of diplomatic engagement.

Speaking on the occasion, Engineer Sami Abdullah Al Khanjari said the Sultanate of Oman attaches great importance to its relations with Pakistan and South Korea. He stressed that the development of new avenues for mutual cooperation was essential in the current global environment.

He said stronger diplomatic engagement would help further enhance bilateral trade, cultural exchanges, and investment opportunities among the countries, while also contributing to broader regional cooperation.

Consul General Joohoon Kim said South Korea was keen to further strengthen its friendly relations with both Pakistan and Oman. He noted that enhanced cooperation among the countries could contribute to regional development, economic stability, and stronger people-to-people connectivity.

The two Consuls General also appreciated the constructive role played by the diplomatic community in Karachi, observing that the city’s diplomatic corps serves as an important bridge for promoting harmony, cultural understanding, and international cooperation.

They reaffirmed their commitment to making diplomatic contacts more active and effective in order to further strengthen ties between their respective countries.

At the conclusion of the meeting, commemorative shields were exchanged in honour of the visiting dignitary.
