JI announces plans to stage sit-ins at 10 locations across Karachi

Jamaat-e-Islami has announced plans to stage sit-ins at 10 major locations across Karachi, as part of its ongoing protest campaign for civic rights.

The announcement was made by Karachi Ameer Munim Zafar Khan while addressing a press conference at Idara Noor-e-Haq.

Speaking to the media, Munim Zafar Khan alleged that toxic teargas was used against Jamaat-e-Islami workers outside the Sindh Assembly, resulting in serious injuries to a large number of citizens due to shelling and baton charge.

He paid tribute to the determination and courage of party workers, stating that despite the use of tear gas, shopkeepers on Burns Road continued their business activities.

Criticizing the Pakistan People's Party government, he alleged that attempts were made to stop the sit-in and accused the ruling party of failing to provide basic facilities such as water, electricity and transport to the residents of Karachi.

Munim Zafar Khan said that although a sit-in was halted today, Jamaat-e-Islami would hold protests on 10 major highways across the city tomorrow. He emphasized that Karachi needs a megacity government to address its growing challenges and vowed that the party’s struggle would continue.
