The recently passed mini-budget has brought worst economic bodings even for the government employees as they have demanded a 100% raise in their salaries while announcing a sit-in in front of the Parliament House on Feb 10 in support of their demand, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
The All Government Employees Grand Alliance on Saturday demanded of the government to raise their salaries by 100% keeping in view the skyrocketing inflation that will be triggered in the wake of mini-budget.
The alliance announced a march from Finance Ministry to the Parliament House and then a sit-in in front of the Parliament House on Feb 10.
Employees of federal ministries, departments and divisions will participate in the sit-in. The grand alliance has asked all government employees to ensure their participation in the protest.
It has also demanded of the government to abide by its Feb 11, 2021 written agreement with the alliance.
Alliance chief coordinator Rehman Bajwa said that the march would take place in any case. Besides employees, all organizations that are included in the alliance would participate in the protest.
The grand alliance demanded that employees’ salaries be raised in proportion to ever-increasing inflation. It also called for the merger of four ad hoc allowances in the basic salary. It demanded that on the pattern of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government, upgradation of employees working in BS 1-16 be ensured. As per the agreement, the time scale promotion must be carried out and disparity reduction allowance must be awarded on the pattern of Azad Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan governments.
The grand alliance also demanded at least 25% increase in government employees’ pension.
