It seems that Punjab Police have set their sight on social media platforms to erase all the evils and crimes in the society.

At a time when the crime rate is continuously increasing and according to a report the number of people died during the roadside robberies has doubled in recent months in the capital city Lahore, the Punjab Police look to hoodwink the people through such tactics.

Earlier, the Punjab Police have succeeded in getting banned popular interactive online game PUBG from the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority citing recent suicides of the youngsters over the said game.

Now the Punjab Police is looking to get the famous social media app TikTok banned to control the crime rate.

According to DIG Operations Ishfaq Ahmed, the police were collecting details and data to formulate a report on the harmful aspects of this social media platform.

The incidents like the exhibition of firearms, firing, dangerous stunts and rape have prompted the police to take action against the social media platform.

The DIG Operations said he was personally in favour of banning the app but admitted that it was not the solution either.

He said the PTA should regulate such apps and the parents should also play their due role to save their children from any harm.

He said they were preparing a report and would ask the PTA and internet service providers to ban this app.

His remarks came after the incident of rape of a TikToker girl of Lahore’s Millat Park area after developing friendship on the social media platform. According to detail, the main accused in the case Sheeraz has been arrested who raped the girl along with his two friends when she came to meet him.

The police were still trying to arrest the other two accused in the case.
