Sessions Court summoned the lawyers of singer-actor Ali Zafar and singer Meesha Shafi on August 8 for the arguments in a case regarding social media campaign against Ali Zafar, reported 24News HD TV channel on Thursday.  

Additional Sessions Judge Syed Ali Abbas heard an appeal of Meesha Shafi for absence. Ms Shafi challenged the orders of the judicial magistrate regarding her appearance before the court. Through her lawyers, she stated that she was living in Canada with her husband and children currently. She said Ali Zafar had got registered a baseless case against her in FIA which was being heard by the district court. She said the court had summoned her but due to coronavirus travel restrictions, she was not able to visit Pakistan. 

Ms Shafi, however, said that she was ready to appear before the court through a video link. She requested the Sessions Court to permit her to appear before the court through video link and to set aside the order of the district court regarding submission of Rs100,000 security bonds.

The court while issuing an injection exempted Meesha Shafi from appearance in the court until the final decision on her appeal.
