A court in Lahore on Tuesday ordered the acquittal of Sajid Nawaz, an old citizen who had used inappropriate language against Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz in a video, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

The court said there was no proof that Sajid was involved in the case number 2771 in which the police had nominated him.

“The police sought the man’s physical remand. But failed to provide any evidence that could justify his remand,” said the court in its written order.

The court further said that other persons nominated in the case had already been acquitted. “Therefore, the court rejects the investigation officer’s request and orders Sajid’s release.”
