Air travel has also been heavily affected, as numerous flights were cancelled or delayed at major airports across the region, including JFK and Newark.

Meanwhile, Massachusetts and Virginia have also issued flood warnings as heavy downpours continue.

Meteorologists reported that water levels are rising by 2 to 3 inches per hour in the most affected areas.
