Officer fined Rs500,000 for harassing female colleague

A government officer has been fined Rs500,000 for repeatedly using derogatory language against a female colleague and comparing her to transgender over her inability to have children, reported 24NewsHD TV Channel.

The accused used gender-based insulting remarks as a weapon against the woman during a professional rivalry. 

The record stated that the accused had published several derogatory messages online as part of a systematic campaign against the complainant.

He also allegedly created a fake book title and fabricated details about its authorship and publication to mock her.

The ombudsman observed that the repeated use of derogatory terms associated with transgender identity was not merely vulgar language but also reinforced harmful stereotypes against a vulnerable section of society. 

According to the verdict, the conduct reflected a discriminatory mindset and had no place in a professional environment.
