Ex-media anchors booked for inciting violence on May 9
An FIR was registered against former media anchors at Aabpara police station of Islamabad on Wednesday in connection with incidents of violence witnessed in different cities of the country following the arrest of former prime minister and PTI Chairman Imran Khan on May 9, 2023, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
The case, in which terrorism and treason-related sections were inserted, was filed on the complaint of a citizen named Majid Mehmood.
The text of the FIR read that protestors while committing violent acts at Melody Market of the federal capital on May 9 were receiving instructions from these journalists via a video link.
Furthermore, the suspects through their video messages incited people to violence. “The purpose of attacking army buildings was to exhort people to rebel and hence create chaos in the society. In fact, these people acted as agents of anti-state agencies,” read the FIR.
