Poliovirus confirmed in environmental samples from different districts

Poliovirus confirmed in environmental samples from different districts of the country, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Saturday.

In this regard, the Pakistan Polio Eradication Program has released a weekly report.

The weekly report consists of 15 environmental samples obtained from 14 districts.

According to report, poliovirus confirmed in environmental samples from Multan, Bahawalpur, Lahore, DG Khan and Kasur districts of Punjab. 

Poliovirus was confirmed in environmental samples from Dera Bugti, Lasbela, Quetta and Sibbi districts of Balochistan.

Poliovirus confirmed in environmental samples from Charsadda and Swabi districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

However, environmental samples from Dera Ismail Khan, South Waziristan (Lower) and North Waziristan were declared negative.

National Emergency Operations Center (NEOC) said that Pakistan’s polio surveillance system is among the best in the world. 

Number of environmental surveillance sites increased from 65 to 127 in 2025, NEOC said.

Next national polio campaign scheduled from April 21 to April 27.
