A class III student in Narowal was electrocuted at her school in Shakargarh, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Friday.

The incident took place in the village of Langah Bhatian of Shakargarh.

Imama Arshad, 9, daughter of Muhammad Arshad was a student at the Langha Bhatian Public School.

According to local sources, plumbing and welding work were going on in the school without taking any safety measures.

Imama had gone to drink water when she fainted after being electrocuted by an electric wire. She was being shifted to the District Headquarters Hospital, Narowal, when she died.

Arif Shahzad, chief executive officer of the District Education Authority, Narowal, said that the student had gone to the electric water cooler to drink water during the school break. Still, the nozzle was connected to an electric current.

He said the Langha Bhatian Public School was a private educational institution, and it was sealed due to the incompetence of its administration.

Later, police filed a first information report (FIR) on behalf of Asghar Khan and started an investigation.
