IHC extends Asif Zardari’s bail until Nov 5
The Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Thursday granted an extension in interim bail to former president and PPP Co-Chairman Asif Ali Zardari until November 5, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
A two-member bench of the court comprising Justice Amir Farooq and Justice Mohsin Akhtar Kiyani heard the case as Zardari’s counsel Farooq H Naek informed the court about an application seeking exemption from appearance on medical grounds. “Zardari cannot stand properly,” he told the court.
On this, NAB Sardar Muzaffar talks of the importance of the presence of the applicant.
Justice Amir Farooq asked has the reference been filed or the investigation is still in progress?
The NAB prosecutor said the investigation is underway. “When the case was at the inquiry stage arrest warrants were not issued. Now, they have collected enough material against Asif Zardari,” he added.
When Justice Amir Farooq inquired about the applicant’s health, Naek said “Asif Zardari was in hospital yesterday but he has no update about him today.”
When Naek requested a copy of the arrests warrants, the NAB prosecutor said that the copy will be provided at the time of the arrest. “We can’t give a copy before making an arrest.”
In the latest development, Asif Zardari has been discharged from the hospital. The former president was admitted to Karachi’s Ziauddin Hospital on Sunday last for medical tests.
