The Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (Ogra) has sent a summary to the government suggesting an increase in the prices of petroleum products, the 24NewsHD TV channel reported on Thursday.
The regulatory authority has suggested a Rs5.90 per litre surge in petrol price, sources said, adding that it recommended a Rs9.50 per litre raise in diesel rate.
Crude oil price hike in the international market has been cited as the reason for the raise. However, the finance ministry will make the final decision.
