President Donald Trump on Tuesday hailed a "new dawn" for the Middle East as Israel, the United Arab Emirates and Bahrain prepared to seal a landmark US-brokered accord on normalizing relations.

"After decades of division and conflict we mark the dawn of a new Middle East," Trump told hundreds of attendees gathered for a White House signing ceremony.

"We're here this afternoon to change the course of history," Trump said.

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, invited to ink the accords along with the foreign ministers of Bahrain and the UAE, joined Trump in calling it a historic turning point.

"This day is a pivot of history, it heralds a new dawn of peace," Netanyahu told the ceremony -- the first time Arab nations have established relations with Israel since Egypt in 1979 and Jordan in 1994.
