UAE thrash Oman by 42 runs in Asia Cup clash
The United Arab Emirates (UAE) secureد a 42-run victory over Oman in their Group A clash of the Asia Cup T20, played in Abu Dhabi on Monday.
Batting first after winning the toss, UAE posted a strong total of 172 runs for the loss of five wickets in their allotted 20 overs.
Skipper Muhammad Waseem led from the front with a commanding 69-run knock, while Alishan Sharafu provided excellent support with 51 runs.
Contributions from Muhammad Zohaib (21) and Harshit Kaushik (19 off just a few deliveries) further boosted the innings.
For Oman, Jatinder Ramanandi was the pick of the bowlers, claiming two wickets.
Chasing 173, Oman faltered against disciplined UAE bowling and were bowled out for 130 in 18.4 overs.
Skipper Jatinder Singh (20), Aryan Bisht (24), and Vinayak Shukla (20) tried to resist, but their efforts were not enough as the rest of the batting line-up struggled to cope with the pressure.
UAE’s bowling attack shone brightly, with Junaid Siddique spearheading the charge by taking 4 wickets for just 23 runs. Haider Ali and Muhammad Jawadullah also chipped in with two wickets apiece, ensuring Oman had no chance to recover.
