Amid the growing tension between the PTI leadership and their estranged colleague Jahangir Khan Tareen, the number of dissenting voices in the ruling party is growing.
On Thursday, Syed Faiz Ul Hassan, Member of the National Assembly from the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), called on Tareen. Syed Faiz Ul Hassan, an MNA from Lalamusa, said Tareen had rendered innumerable services for the party. He said he stood by Tareen and would try to foil the conspiracies against him. He said he would appeal to Prime Minister Imran Khan to take notice of the ongoing character assassination campaign against Tareen.
In a related development, Qasim Langah, who was elected Member of the Punjab Assembly (MPA) from Multan as an independent candidate, held a meeting with Tareen. Qasim said he had been associated with Tareen for a long time and he would stand by him in all sincerity.
On the other hand, some federal ministers have expedited the efforts to arrange a meeting between Prime Minister Imran Khan and Tareen. In this regard, backdoor efforts have already been started. The prime minister has stopped the party leaders from commenting on the Jahangir Tareen case. Some people close to the prime minister also want reconciliation between Imran Khan and Jahangir Tareen.
