Pakistan Telecommunication Authority has restored the social media platforms after a short closure on the directives of the Interior Ministry, reported 24News HD TV channel Friday.

All social media applications including WhatsApp, Twitter, Facebook, Telegram and YouTube have been restored at 3:00 PM.

Pakistan Friday suspended all social media platforms for a few hours. The Interior Ministry has issued a notification to impose a complete ban on all social media platforms from 11 AM to 3 PM.

Social media platforms Twitter, Facebook, YouTube, WhatsApp and Telegram will remain suspended in Pakistan from 11 am till 3pm. The ministry said that the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority had suspended the social media platforms on its instructions.

The action was taken after a letter was sent to the PTA chairman by the interior ministry. The ministry, in the letter, had requested the PTA to take action against the issue "immediately".

Earlier, the internet and mobile services have remained suspended in many parts of the different cities in the country in the wake of now-defunct TLP protests.

As the government is fearing another street power show from TLP one day after it had banned the religious-politico outfit after Friday prayers, it had banned the social media in the country to stop spreading the protests that had turned violent in the recent days.
