Punjab Assembly staff to contribute two-day salary in austerity drive

The Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) Punjab parliamentary party has announced that all employees of the Punjab Assembly will contribute two days’ salaries to an austerity fund as part of cost-saving measures.

According to the 24NewsHD TV channel, the decision was taken during a meeting of the parliamentary party chaired by Senior Provincial Minister Marriyum Aurangzeb. 

The parliamentary party meeting also passed a resolution acknowledging and praising the efforts of the prime minister, the foreign minister and the chief of army staff for their role in promoting peace.

Participants in the meeting paid tribute to Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar and Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, commending their leadership and diplomatic efforts. 

The gathering was also briefed on key legislation expected to be presented in the upcoming session of the Punjab Assembly.

Speaking at the meeting, Marriyum said Pakistan was playing a significant role in efforts aimed at safeguarding global peace and stability. 

She added that the country had emerged as a symbol of hope and peace on the international stage.

She also stated that the leadership of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, Ishaq Dar and Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir had been widely recognised, adding that their efforts had contributed to strengthening Pakistan’s position globally.

The meeting also noted that the Punjab government’s measures had led to savings in fuel expenditure as part of its broader austerity efforts.
