A banking court in Lahore on Monday extended the interim bails granted to Leader of the Opposition in the National Assembly and Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) President Shehbaz Sharif and his son Leader of the Opposition in the Punjab Assembly Hamza Shehbaz in sugar scandal and money laundering cases till September 4, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
Banking Court Judge Qaiser Nazir Butt heard the bail petitions of the PML-N leaders.
Amjad Pervez Advocate, who represented both the Sharifs in the case, said that the government was victimizing both of his clients. “National Accountability Bureau (NAB) has failed to prove even a single penny of corruption against both father and the son,” he said and prayed to the court to accept bail petitions of both of them.
A large number of PML-N workers and activists were present outside the banking court during the hearing of PML-N stalwarts, while strict security measures had been taken both inside and outside the court.
