Two policemen, escorting a polio team, were martyred Tuesday in firing by terrorists at Kot Azam Nai Abadi in Tank district, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
The bodies of the cops were shifted to hospital and the security forces personnel have surrounded the area and launched an operation to hunt down the unidentified attackers.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif strongly condemned the terrorist attack on the polio team in Tank district and paid glowing tributes to the martyred policemen.
The prime minister said that the police had made great sacrifices against terrorism. “We pay our salutations to the martyrs,” he added.
“The attackers of polio workers want to cripple the children of the nation. We will not sit idle until we eliminate the enemies of the health of the nation’s children,” he vowed.
Nisar and Pir Rehman were the martyred policemen.
A heavy contingent of police reached the spot upon being informed of the incident while the accused had managed their escape good already.
Lady worker’s throat slit in Karachi
A lady polio worker’s throat was slit by her former husband in Power House areas of Karachi’s Madina Colony.
The injured woman was rushed to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital for treatment.
The police said the attacker has escaped from the scene.
