Water level continues to rise in Sutlej River, several villages inundated
The water level of the Sutlej River has risen rapidly causing low to medium floods in Kasur as 70000 cusecs of floodwater is passing through Ganda Singh, reported 24NewsHD TV Channel.
According to officials, the Sutlej River’s water level reached 19.5 feet. Floodwater has covered fields and destroyed crops, causing farmers losses worth millions of rupees. People in the area were scared as the rising river threatened low-lying places.
The flood disturbed daily life in many villages as roads to several villages have been blocked and villagers were stuck in their homes though many have moved to safer areas.
Local authorities and residents warn that low-lying areas in Ganda Singh could be in more danger if the water keeps rising. People are helpless against the rising floodwaters, struggling to deal with the ongoing disaster in the rural area of Kasur.
