Fog disrupts flights operations of Lahore, Sialkot airports
Motorways shut down, trains delayed as thick fog blankets plain areas
Thick fog lands at Lahore Airport.
At the Allama Iqbal International Airport of Lahore where the runway has been shut down since 8:00 pm Wednesday night, a number of flights were cancelled, others delayed and a few were diverted to other destinations.
Thick fog has reduced the visibility at the airport’s runway to just 50 metres, which led to cancellation of five flights and changes schedule of 17 other flights.
Sharjah-bound flight PA-412 which was due to take off at 12:00 midnight will now leave at 12:00 noon. Abu Dhabi-bound flight PA-430 which was due to depart at 12:30 midnight will now leave at 12:00 noon.
Qatar Airways flight QR-621 which was due to leave for Doha at 3:00 am will now leave at 12:15 pm.
Toronto-bound flight which was due to leave at 7:15 am will now depart at 2:00 pm.
Turkish Airways flight TK-715 which was due to take off at 8:00 am will now leave at 6:00 pm.
British Airways flight BA-258 which was due to leave at 9:00 am will now depart at 1:15 pm.
Turkish Airways flight TK-714 which was due to touch down at 5:30 am will now land at Lahore Airport at 4:14 pm.
British Airways flight BA-257 which was due to land at 7:00 am will now touch down at 9:50 am.
According to the sources, the airlines administrations have informed the passengers about the change in the flights operations.
A private airline’s flight coming from Sharjah was delayed for 17 hours. Al-Arabia flight G-17529 will now land at 2:30 pm today.
Motorway, M3, has been closed for every kind of traffic from Faizpur to Darkhana.
Motorway, M4, was shut from Pindi Bhattian to Abdul Hakeem and also from Shahkot to Abdul Hakeem. It was also off for traffic from Sher Shah to Sham Kot.
Motorway, M5, was closed for traffic from Multan to Sukkur.
Traffic was also disrupted on GT Road from Peshawar to Karachi as dense fog has reduced the visibility at several sections.
