152 KP schools still unregistered for free text books

Unregistered schools given one-day deadline for registration

Due to the alleged negligence of the Education Department officers of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP), as many as 152 public schools could not get themselves registered for the acquisition of free books for the next academic year, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Friday.

It is learnt that the public schools in 18 districts of KP province has been given one-day deadline for online registration.

The KP Education Department has sent a letter to the Directorate of Education, directing the officers to get the schools registered immediately.

“There are 111 schools of girls and 41 schools of boys that could not get themselves registered,” the letter said.

“A departmental action will be taken against the district education officers if the schools remain unregistered,” it warned.

“Upper Kohistan tops the list of the schools that are still unregistered. As many as 53 schools of Upper Kohistan did not get themselves registered for free books,” it stated.

“Among the unregistered schools, 22 are from Shangla, 14 from Bannu and eight schools are from Swabi, Mardan, Upper Dir and Lower Chitral each,” it added.
