Heavy rush at Islamabad airport immigration counters causes long delays for passengers

An unusual rush at immigration counters at Islamabad International Airport on Tuesday caused significant inconvenience for passengers travelling abroad, with many forced to endure long waiting times due to strict screening procedures, 24NewsHD TV reported on Tuesday.

According to passengers, the prolonged immigration checks led to unusually long queues, creating congestion at the counters and delaying the clearance process.

Travellers departing on Saudi Airlines flight SV 729 to Jeddah were seen waiting in lengthy lines, while passengers of Fly Jinnah’s Bahrain-bound flight 9P764 also faced extended delays.

The congestion raised concerns over possible flight delays, as immigration clearance reportedly slowed down considerably due to the overwhelming rush.

Several passengers expressed serious concerns over the immigration arrangements, criticising the authorities for inadequate management in the face of the unusually high number of travellers.

They urged airport and immigration officials to increase the number of counters and streamline procedures to ease the situation.

No immediate response or official statement has been issued by airport management or immigration authorities regarding the delays.
