Iranian rial hits record low, reaches 1.3m per USD

The Iranian rial has fallen to a record low against the US dollar, with one dollar now equivalent to 1.3 million rials, 4NewsHD TV reported on Tuesday.

The crisis, marked by a continuous decline in the value of the Iranian currency, has intensified sharply in less than two weeks.

At the time of the 2015 nuclear agreement between Iran and international powers, one US dollar was equal to 32,000 rials.

Following the United States’ unilateral withdrawal from the deal in 2018 and the imposition of sanctions, the Iranian currency has faced a prolonged depreciation.

By December 3, 2025, one dollar was valued at 1.2 million rials, and just two weeks later, it has surged to 1.3 million rials.

The steep decline in the rial has caused severe economic hardships for Iranian citizens, including high inflation and a sharp rise in the cost of daily living.
